Palatinit has introduced a new carbohydrate called Palatinose, also known under the generic name isomaltulose. According to the company, Palatinose is a disaccharide derived from sucrose. Like sucrose, it is fully digested and therefore provides the same caloric value. Unlike sucrose, however, the company claims Palatinose is toothfriendly and digested at a much slower rate, which leads not only to a low glycemic response but also to a prolonged glucose supply. Palatinose is mildly sweet and is suitable for beverages, bars and cereals.
